No 527 Squadron was formed at RAF Castle Camps on 15 June 1943 as a radar calibration unit. The unit operated over southern England and East Anglia. On 1 September 1944 it absorbed No 528 Squadron, and on 1 May 1945 it also absorbed No 526 Squadron. On 15 April 1946 the squadron
disbanded.

On 1 August 1952 N and R Calibration Squadrons, Central Signals Establishment at RAF Watton were brought together and renumbered No 527 Squadron. On 21 August 1958 the unit was renumbered No 245 Squadron.
